Eastside Wellness Connections boosts overall health with dozens of weekly fitness classes that develop strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Quadriceps seekers saddle up to 40-minute spinning classes, where Lycra-clad students charge along on stationary bikes while an instructor creates vivid mental pictures of a challenging outdoor workout, such as cycling the rim of the Grand Canyon, zipping through a lush forest, or delivering packages in New York City by unicycle. Students adjust the intensity of the workout to their own skill levels by modifying the settings on their bike or swapping out rubber footwear for leaden sneakers. Cyclers torch up to 600 calories during this fat-burning session and increase lower-body strength and foot-to-pedal coordination.
