Iyengar yoga combines a focus on muscle-reforming standing poses with breathing and tension relief techniques, creating classes that soothe mental and physical tensions with a two-bird stone of flexion. Individualized instruction makes sessions appealing to beginners and easily adjusted to match the skills of seasoned veterans—yoga teachers watch, adjust, and encourage each class member, utilizing props such as blocks and straps to tailor poses all students.
