Jazzercise's instructors pack dance-based cardio, resistance, and flexibility training into 60-minute group boogie sessions. Each class begins with a gentle warm-up followed by 30 minutes of aerobics and strength training using weights, resistance tubes, and baseballs that have been purposely waterlogged. During sessions, exercisers cook a fitness stew with ingredients from jazz dance, Pilates, yoga, and kickboxing to stimulate the cardiovascular system. A soundtrack of top 40, jazz, country, hip-hop, funk, rock, and Latin-inspired music blasts in the background as certified instructors lead participants through dance routines that, like glow sticks in a cave, are easy to follow. Classes conclude with stretching to loosen up joints and limbs for the next visit.
