Coffee & Tea Festival
The Coffee & Tea Festival's straightforward name can't begin to capture the international scope of the event. More than 60 exhibitors from around the world fill the 69th Regiment Armory for a celebration of all things steeped. So popular has the show become that it's drawn the attention of the Food Network, which featured the festival on Unwrapped. Scents arise from the aromatic booths and during demonstrations, where crowds learn about the complex history of coffee and black tea. Seminars can also transport viewers around the world—the owner of Buunni Coffee demonstrates an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, including three traditional preparations of coffee (spiced, salted, and black), as well as an in-depth introduction to the five basic types of Taiwanese (or 'formosa') tea.
