Grimaldi’s
About
“If you have only 24 hours (in New York),” raves Time Magazine, “you can’t go wrong with Grimaldi’s.” It may be living in––or beneath––the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, but this pizzeria is a tourist destination in its own right, thanks to its 25-pound, hand-built coal oven. The 1200-degree contraption burns through 100 pounds of clean-burning coal per day churning out perfectly baked pies, and undisputed proof that it can pay to be on Santa’s naughty list. While waiting for a taste, diners can take in majestic views of Manhattan as the jukebox plays tunes from Frank Sinatra, who was rumored to be one of the pizza joint’s biggest fans.
