Smuin Ballet

The Smuin Ballet's Spring Program treats audiences to three inventive dance numbers that dazzle eyes and make limbs ache with admiration. Named by Dance magazine as a young choreographer to watch, Tulsa Ballet's Ma Cong presents the world premiere of a new work that still manages to please classical traditionalists. Val Caniparoli's Swipe makes use of the eerily variant strains of String Quartet no. 2 by Gabriel Prokofiev, the grandson of the famed Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. The piece complements Caniparoli's strict, technical style with melodies that recall classical works and modern club floor-fillers.
