Live Off Groupon Concludes

Live Off Groupon comes to a close and Mayor Daley proclaims May 10th “Groupon Day”!

Chicago’s finicky spring held back its rain and blessed 600 W. Chicago with sunshine as employees poured out to the front steps to welcome The Groupawn back to Chicago. After a year of living solely off of Groupons, Josh’s adventure came to a close and he successfully Lived Off Groupon. The entrance to Groupon’s headquarters were lined with a green carpet, friends and family, and an amazing drum line hailing from King College Prep High School that punched morning in the face with an explosive, percussive fist.

Maverick: Customer Service

Like a boastful mother, we always mention that our Customer Service team contains a pack of multi-talented artists, plate jugglers, and flame throwers. Not only are they dedicated to helping customers, they’re dedicated to their art outside of Groupon. Today we bring you a combination of the two with another video by Ben and Brandon featuring additional CS reps, Andrew, Megan, and James.

Groupon Wins Webby

We’re happy to announce that Groupon won Best Retail in the Website category of the Webbys!

The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Established in 1996 during the Web’s infancy, the Webbys are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which includes an Executive 750-member body of leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities, and Associate Members who are former Webby Award Winners and Nominees and other Internet professionals.

We also garnered the People’s Voice award in the same category and wanted to extend our thanks to everyone who voted on our behalf. And one final congratulations: Our own Editorial team was also named Official Honoree in Best Copywriting.

Portland Food Trucks

The invention of food was monumental in the history of inventions. Combined with the wheel, humans were able to break free of the constraints of the Lazy Susan and fully embrace a meal’s mobile possibilities.

The city of Portland decided to take food to the streets and one by one trucks and carts sporting portable and tasty refreshments were a common sight. Today Groupon will feature many great food carts in the hopes you will discover a new favorite cuisine on wheels.

Food Carts Portland was started in 2007 when we saw there wasn’t a resource out there for this growing street food scene. There were plenty of sites reviewing restaurants, but none for the carts. read more »
