Nearly 400 people submitted video applications to Live Off Groupon, and all but seven were lucky enough to not be selected as finalists.
Six of the remaining seven will now be subjected to the even more unbearable disappointment of flying to Chicago to be rejected after an in-person interview.
And one person will endure the pinnacle of all suffering: attempting to live off nothing but Groupons for one year.
Watch the finalists’ videos here, and support your favorite Groupawn by voting via Facebook or Twitter. And just so we’re clear, we’re still making the final call, but the fan favorite is guaranteed a slot in the final round of interviews.
For those who weren’t selected, 1) thank you for applying, the videos were amazing and choosing six was excruciating, and 2) consider yourselves lucky. Think about how unrealistic this challenge is. Perhaps you’ve watched Survivor long enough that you’ve come to assume that seemingly death-defying corporate stunts are, in reality, probably fairly safe. In our case, you shouldn’t—seriously, nobody has thought this thing all the way through. Off the top of my head… have we ever featured a business that sells toothpaste? Or shoes? None come to mind.
These videos were inspiring to watch – we have the coolest customers and we’re proud to showcase even more of the entries here. We experienced a day in the life of an ESL teacher in Korea, jumped out of a plane in Brazil, got our own music montage and met your families. Allow us to say ‘thanks’ for giving this your best.

Hello There mr. or mrs. creator,
Uhh, I think there is a problem with your introductory video uhh… you speak of the “country” and plot dots everywhere in the USA Uhh. Do you expect Canadians to participate Uhh? And uhh, if Vimeo is hosting your video why should I open an account with Vimeo to leave a comment for Groupon Uhh? not very user friendly uhh but certainly very confusing uhh.

OH CRUEL WORLD!!!! If all your contestants and back up come up with cold feet please contact me. I am in the perfect position to attempt this challenge, with a very CREATIVE way at approaching life and what one “needs”.
Besides that I just want to say that I really like this group and this idea and I hope it catches on. I’ve attempted to buy everything that has come up at this point.
thank you for your time and efforts!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider a Groupon FAMILY next time! Think of the fun of not only having ONE person but a whole little tribe trying to creatively solve the day to day challenges of being Groupon exclusive. Or perhaps having a scaled down version where a family in each Groupon city can showcase different and exciting ways of utilizing Groupons or perhaps having city specific Groupon ambassadors. Of course, our family would be willing to help assist in this – totally for the sake of others.
