Behind the Deals: Redeeming Your Groupon

Our Editorial Department continues their “Behind the Deal” series with a post on how to successfully redeem your Groupon.

While entering credit-card information to purchase a Groupon is fun in and of itself, did you know you actually can exchange Groupons for goods and services at their respective businesses? It’s true! Here are the three approved methods for redeeming a Groupon:

  1. Print and Redeem: Using your PC’s web browser, surf over to your Groupon account and hit your keyboard’s “Print” key. Then sign, date, and write a heartfelt “Thank You” at the bottom of the printed Groupon to make it legally binding. Finally, ferry your Groupon to the merchant, who will burn your redeemed Groupon in a Groupon-provided incinerator to prevent duplicate usage.

2. Mobile Redemption: Tired of always carrying your printer with you? Just download the Groupon app for your smartphone. Using the latest voice-to-person technology, the app allows you to effortlessly call your local Groupon representative, who can speak with the merchant directly and confirm that you have purchased the appropriate Groupon.

  1. Secret Handshakes: Hidden within each Groupon write-up are detailed instructions about how to perform a unique series of two-person hand maneuvers with the merchant, indicating that you are “one of them” and should be given the appropriate discount. As Groupon continues to grow, we’ll continue to innovate new and better methods for turning your Internet purchase into real-world savings.

How in the heck do I find and print my groupon purchase? After the initial purchase yesterday or the day before, I was directed to a site that said “Thanks for playing but we cannot print your groupon due to heavy demand” (well, not literally that but you get the idea!). Now I cannot find that site, there is nothing that says where to go, clicking on my name shows nothing in my groupon box but my credit card has been debited and what do I have to show for it? Nothing, nada, zip. I think I may have made a mistake in joining this thing. If I do not have an answer by this afternoon, I will cancel my credit card purchase and unsubscribe. Your blog says to go to the Point to print, etc. Guess what – I joined The Point and can find absolutely nothing on their website about printing out Groupons.

You can check with that specific business and they can give you a heads up, but we will only announce the deal the day it is featured.
