Featured Merchant: Indulge Burgers

Other than apple pie and baseball, there aren’t many things more American than a big, tasty burger. Perhaps no one knows that better than today’s Featured Merchant, Lee Klein from Indulge Burgers in Scottsdale, AZ.

Prior to trying his hand at creating mouth-water burgers burgers, Klein owned L&S Klein Marketing and Consulting. Click through to read how after years in the marketing industry, Lee thinks that Groupon has been the best thing he could have done to market Indulge Burgers.

Writes Lee:

Shortly after starting my business, I read something in the news about Groupon and their rapidly growing business model. I had background in the marketing industry, but had never heard of anything like Groupon before. I didn’t give it a whole lot of thought, as a new business owner, I was busy!

After being open for a couple of months, someone from Groupon reached out to me to see if I was interested in running a deal. I was intrigued, so I listened and decided to try it out. My first deal ran in February 2010 and sold more than 1,000 Groupons.

People ask me today, ‘How do you do it? How do offer a big discount and still be successful?’ I explain to them that with Groupon, I’m providing a discount, but the deals are bringing actual customers into my restaurant. What other marketing tool can guarantee customers? Plus, we see a huge amount of overspend on the Groupon deals, which offsets the discount.

So far we’ve run eight deals, selling more than 10,000 Groupons. It’s the best marketing decision I have ever made. I get the opportunity to showcase our great food and service and then those people go out in the community and tell others about Indulge Burgers. We have countless stories of people that tried us through a Groupon and then brought other people back to eat again, with everyone paying full-price. It’s incredible.

Make no mistake, we’re busy after we run a Groupon deal, but I don’t know of too many good businesses that are upset with a steady stream of customers coming through the doors.

After all of our success with Groupon deals, we’ve been hearing from Groupon’s competitors regularly. I tell them all, ‘No thanks, I’m sticking with Groupon.’ It’s helped our business grow immensely, why try anything else?
