Looking for a way to get new customers through the door at Kwik Kar Lube & Tune, Thomas decided to give Groupon a try despite being skeptical of a company that claimed to promise new customers. Click through to read Thomas’s full story.
Writes Thomas:
As the general manager of Kwik Kar Lube & Tune, it’s my job to always be thinking of new ways to get people to try our service. When my representative at Groupon first approached me, I was intrigued, but skeptical. How could Groupon guarantee me the new customers I was searching for in my local city and not require a single penny of upfront expenses?
After learning more about how the company works, I decided that if Groupon could provide me with brand new customers, it would be worth it for our business. The first deal we offered was for a full-service oil change for $19 – a 62% savings off the normal price.
To say the least, I was shocked at how well it worked. The first deal sold 171 Groupons and brought in a new wave of customers that were driving as far as 20 miles to try us out! For us, the key was customer service. I knew that we had one chance to impress these new customers and turn them into repeat clients. In fact, the average Groupon customer has spent $24 on top of how much the Groupon was worth, making it an extremely worthwhile transaction.
In total, we have run three Groupon deals with the most recent deal selling 963 Groupons. We have converted many of these new customers into lifelong customers by properly preparing our staff for the added business and providing superior customer service. So far, 63% of Groupon customers have bought additional services when they redeem their Groupon. Business got so busy after the latest deal that we started taking cars by appointment to ensure that everyone had a good experience.
With other advertising, we had no way of knowing if a customer was coming in as a result of it and in many cases it cost a lot of money up front. With Groupon, we’re able to track our new customers and our tracking has shown that these deals have been well worth it. Groupon has proven to be an incredibly effective marketing tool and we plan to use them again in the future.

So can somebody help me get Insomnia Cookies to fill my 2 Groupon orders? I can get through to them on email or phone and Groupon CS emailed me that it was my problem. I placed three orders. One a week before the coupon expiration (it took a month for the cookies to get to the recipient) and the other two on the expiration date of November 30. I did not get a confirmation from the website order on November 30 but I didn’t worry. it was late. I went to bed. I forgot about it. Then the fun began the next day trying to get through to them. NO RESPONSES!!!!! Groupon CS: Deal directly with Insomnia. HELP!!!!!!
