Groupon Mobile

About a month ago we announced the acquisition of mob.ly, to super charge our efforts to make it really easy for you to buy Groupons and take them with you on any mobile phone.

Starting today you can download a revamped version of our iPhone app.  We have made it faster, eliminated the crashes that some of you have been reporting and setup a foundation that will allow us to add new features quickly.  Also by popular demand, you can now view side/nearby deals from the “More” button on the deal page and use your Groupons when offline.

We are working on adding tons of new features to the iPhone app- everything from the ability to purchase Groupon’s as gifts, to using your G’s and browsing discussion forums.  We would love your input- post your comments on what you would like to see.  For you non-iPhone users- we have some great stuff in the works- so stay tuned!

Android is more popular, and is the future. RIMM is the past.

Did everyone stop reading after it said “we would love your input”? The next line clearly says, “For you non-iPhone users- we have some great stuff in the works- so stay tuned!”

I hope the updated iPhone app doesn’t have to download my Groupons every time I launch the app. The system doesn’t care whether I marked it used or not so why not store it locally?

Push notifications! I always get push notifications of my Living Social deals, and often will forget to check my Groupn app for days/weeks. Not as bad now that iPhone has folders and I have it grouped with Living Social, but when it was buried on page 6 – I never looked at it.

    TOM,

For what it’s worth, there are still far more BlackBerry devices in use than Android ones, so both platforms clearly deserve some attention. :)

Please don’t forget the mobile web. I have a Nokia N900. Total niche phone. But the browser is about as good as it gets on mobile devices.

Yay 4 iPhone app! Seriously love this – but peeved at a local restaurant who won’t take the digital groupon, they want us to bring in the printed version.

I think the manager has a thing against trees.

I feel foolish, after submitting an email, stating that my printer went on the blink, following a power outage, and wanted the service sent to my Cell Phone. After scrolling to the bowels of the webpage, at the bottom, next to the Legal Stuff, I found Groupon Mobile…People, not everybody can afford a Droid, nor want to participate in Verizon’s offers. Not everybody has an IPhone, nor wants anything to do with AT&T. Some of us less rich people, who actually need and use coupons, who can afford a Cell Phone, and a Relic, Vintage, Retro computer bought from an outlet, would also like to be like the flashy phone people, and get these offers on our flip phones. Please see if you can accommodate us Average texters, and allow us to have fun at the sponsored offers. Thank you!
