Meet a Groupon Employee

Though Groupon culture is best witnessed in person, wearing goggles to shield your eyes from sparks, we’ve asked a few of our eclectic, hard working employees to answer a few questions about what makes them tick.

Name: Sarah S.

Department: Customer Service

Other Talents: The Shock T’s

What’s a typical day like for you?

I get on my computer and start answering customer service e-mails and requests, then I get on the phone for a couple hours to do the same. I eat lunch with my friends, then I go back and take e-mails the rest of the day.

How high can you jump and why?

9” in my heyday. Pole vaulter.

What have you learned since working here?

I’ve learned that working in a chill environment is not only do-able, but it’s beneficial. I rarely run into problematic people, and everyone seems to want to their job well and have a good time. It’s really nice.

Which non-Chicago landmark do you wish was in Chicago?

A huge ski lift

What was your best/memorable experience so far with this company?

Probably when our president, Rob Solomon, led us all in a toast for Cinco de Mayo. I was pretty new, and was like…okay, cool. This place is cool.

Which movie villain could you beat in a fight?

That snotty girl in “Clueless”

What should people know about Groupon?

Groupon cares about their customers, all of them, and we’re not out to hurt anybody.

Go ahead and make up a Shakespeare quote.

He doth weep as though seven score crows did fall from the heavens.

What do you like about working here?

I can be nice to people who come to me with problems. My co-workers and manager are my friends and they’ve got my back. And the Vitamin Water is pretty great.

Which karaoke song do you love but can’t sing well?

I sing every song well.
