Dr. M. Farooq Ashraf mastered the excimer laser as a member of the faculty at Johns Hopkins University, and he now wields the ultramodern tool as he adds to his career tally of more than 35,000 LASIK procedures. As founder and medical director of Atlanta Vision Institute, he draws upon his skills as a board-certified ophthalmologist to correct nearsighted, farsighted, and astigmatic vision with refractive surgery. In addition to giving the gift of sight, Dr. Ashraf gives back to the community by supporting local charities and providing discounted services to financially strapped Cyclopes.
Oculist Optique was created based on the idea that there really could be a place to receive state of the art vision care and the latest in designer eyewear, near where you live.
We combine exceptional eye care with the area's best selection of exquisite eyewear
in a spa-like setting.
Within the onsite optical lab at each Eyeworks location, opticians perform virtually any act of optical alchemy, whether forging new bifocals, mending bent or broken frames, or glazing lenses in protective coatings that cut down on glare and scratches. Armed with a knack for style, opticians cull from the stores' collection of designer frames—including popular models from Dakota Smith and Lafont and exclusive lines from Soho and Okki—to match each customer with a look to suit their personality and facial structure. Before either can get to work, however, optometrists conduct comprehensive eye exams, helping patients maintain healthy, focused vision by honing new prescriptions and diagnosing potential diseases such as cataracts or early-onset googly eyes.
Woolfson Eye Institute’s founder and medical director Dr. Jonathan Woolfson is a board-certified ophthalmic surgeon who has performed more than 70,000 laser vision-correction procedures. Such clinical experience has helped him earn the trust of other medical professionals; he has performed more than 300 surgeries on his fellow eye doctors and trained and certified more than 100 North American LASIK surgeons. He has also fine-tuned the eyesight of professional athletes, including Ovie Mughelli, Curtis Lofton, and Kroy Biermann of the Atlanta Falcons.
Dr. Woolfson draws upon this extensive experience each time he customizes a laser procedure to his patients’ needs. He and his staff of doctors begin every treatment with in-depth consultations, where they determine the lasers, instruments, and novelty sound effects needed to successfully enhance eyesight. Once they’ve completed their procedures, they also offer eligible patients a Lifetime Assurance Plan, granting them free lifetime access to any fine-tuning surgeries.
SVS Vision Center’s founders opened their first shop in Sterling Heights, Michigan, in 1974 to help the community clear up its vision. But even these optical gurus never foresaw their humble business expanding to more than 60 locations sprawled across 8 states. Today, each shop continues the tradition of ensuring ocular health and crystalline sight, beginning with exams from seasoned optometrists. Afterward, patients head to the optical dispensary, where they try on frames by Coach, Tiffany, Nike, Versace, or Ray-Ban. The staff then fits the stylish selection with polarized and scratch-protected prescription lenses to help guests read books clearly or see a charging moose from a distance. Most of SVS Vision Center’s frames can also hold sunglass lenses as well, eliminating squinting during summer months and tropical vacations.
Palmetto Shades, located in the heart of Clemson University, houses a spectrum of sunglasses, shoes, T-shirts and more from brands such as Jimmy Choo, Kaenon, and Costa Del Mar. Suncloud's Fantasy, Runway, and Daybreak styles evoke old Hollywood glamour with large rounded frames for ladies ($49 each), and Tonette sunglasses from Electric complement contemporary vision in a selection of bright, punchy colors ($69). The thick, clear arms on Oakley's Batwolf sunglasses in the Clear/Ice option keep men's temples visible at all times, and its bright blue lenses block out 100% of UVA, UVB, and UVC light, and intimidate natural predators ($120). Classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer styles in colors such as black, tortoise, honey, light blue, and camo green can suit eyes of any gender ($119+).
Founded by Dr. Stephen Joffe and Craig Joffe, a father-and-son team who used LASIK eye surgery to correct their own vision, Joffe MediCenter has four locations across the country where expert ophthalmologists use advanced diagnostics to conduct each custom wavefront LASIK surgery. Treatment begins with a free, noninvasive examination with Bausch & Lomb Orbscan and Zywave mapping systems—derived from technology developed for astronomy and physics applications. They generate a 3-D model of each eye, which, like a fingerprint or favorite line from The Princess Bride, is unique to each person.
Upon assessing the results to confirm LASIK candidacy, doctors schedule an in-office surgery in their state-of-art clinic. The LASIK procedure is designed to eliminate your need for glasses and contacts regardless of whether you suffer from nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. The vast majority of patients experience 20/20 vision the next morning after treatment. After the procedure, doctors will schedule postoperative exams.
Dr. Richard Blue of Blue Laser Group has been in his patients' shoes. A specialist in refractive surgery, he underwent a procedure himself in 1991, and so can personally relate to the trials his patients go through and talk to the leaps in technology that have been made since then. He performs Lasik services with a Wavelight EX 500 laser, with many patients able to return the next day to regular activities. Besides Lasik, Dr. Blue and his team perform routine eye exams and treat eye diseases.
The ocular experts at Eye Can See do everything in their power to make it easy to see. On-staff optometrists can duplicate prescriptions and replace lenses in customers’ current frames, or they can perform onsite eye exams to derive new prescriptions. A huge stock of eyewear including more than 3,000 frames features low-cost options and designer frames from brands such as Versace, Prada, and Guess as well as specialty lenses from Transitions and antiglare Crizal styles.
At Brookwood Eyecare, seasoned eye doctors ensure the long-term health and well-being of eyeballs with comprehensive exams and decorate faces with high-end designer frames. Like a professor emeritus of James Dean Studies, each piece of stylish eyewear embodies both smartness and a classic sense of cool, with choices from labels such as Bebe, Geek, Versace, and Joseph Abboud.
Eye1st Vision & Laser Center's network of highly experienced and meticulously trained physicians help improve patients' quality of life with a variety of vision-correcting procedures. Armed with the WavePrint system by VISX, the physicians and technicians can more accurately analyze patients' eyes and devise completely customized LASIK procedures, which can correct conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and blurred x-ray vision. Cataract surgeries allow the doctors to remove clouded lenses and potentially replace them with premium intraocular lenses: implants that can free patients from their dependence on contacts or glasses. Beyond surgery, the teams also help maintain general eye health by checking for and treating conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.

One might think that it would be easy to discern the services offered by Magnolia Eye Care and Hearing Aid Center due to its name. And though the center's practitioners conduct thorough eye exams and hearing screenings, fit clients for contact lenses, stock designer frames, and sell invisible-type hearing aids, that's not all they do. They also treat the rest of the body with body-sculpting services, varicose-vein treatments, and tattoo removal.
In the elegant white and marble confines of Family Eyecare of Roswell, Dr. Zadeh, and his skilled staff of technicians help patients hone in on their next pair of glasses or contacts. The team examines eyes to make sure they're staying healthy, prescribing medication and sculpting glasses out of carrot sticks when necessary. Dr. Z doesn't just excel at eyes—he also speaks Farsi and Spanish,
