Bryant Art Gallery is committed to bringing one-of-a-kind art and splendid aesthetic displays to Birmingham’s creative cognoscenti.
With a collection spanning the pigment-and-canvas styles of the old masters through sculpture, mixed media, and screaming performance artists, Bryant’s friendly staff stands eager to assist patrons in finding the perfect complement for home décor. Selections from a series of 8'x10' oil paintings start at $45.
Dedicated to a next-day turnaround for many assignments, Thompson's encases everything from diplomas to completed jigsaw puzzles within the ornate borders of more than 2,000 customizable frames. Guests can also peruse a collection of 300 ready-made frames that will fit snugly around standard-size pictures, or commission custom tabletop frames to showcase unconventionally sized posters. More than 100 framed, beveled mirrors further populate the store, silently reflecting the reversed T-shirt graphics and snarky grins of each shopper's personal doppelgänger. Frames and mirrors are complemented by a collection of original oil paintings, which help homeowners adorn their walls with a colorful still life, a muted landscape, or an unflinchingly honest portrayal of the human condition.
At the age of 13, photographer Sherri Griffin developed a passion for photography that carried through high school, college, and a 25-year professional career. With a focus on the art form rather than mechanics, Griffin’s portfolio showcases on-location and in-studio portraits brimming with natural emotion, poses, and declarations of "cheese." On-location shoots often take place at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Aldridge Gardens, and Arlington Antebellum Home. In addition to standard prints, Griffin offers hand-painted color images, gallery wraps, and canvas prints.
Kristie P. LaRochelle, a celebrated Birmingham-area photographer with degrees in photography and graphic design, captures genuine, contemporary portraits of children, families, babies over 3 months, or pets in casual settings. Clients can choose between a studio session or a location shoot at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, where subjects can smile amid lush fauna that rarely blinks. Kristie fosters a laid-back atmosphere to help capture authentic moments, and uses digital SLR equipment to produce top-notch digital images that can be printed up to 5" x 7". In addition, clients will choose three images to compile for a signed 10" x 20" high-resolution art print, ideal for installing on flat roofs to document children to their satellite grandparents. Call ahead to schedule an appointment.
Students must bring their own digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) with a charged battery, memory card, and corresponding manual.

Craig and Carol Mitchell opened their specialty paper and stationery shop after finding themselves "bored with a lack of responsibility" in retirement, as they told Shelby Living. Today, their shop's shelves are lined with colorful invitations, stationery, and anything-but-boring paper goods. The store’s house brand is forged from 100% cotton and made without chopping any tree or offending any shrub.
