American Turners Circus' agile aerial coaches guide students through midair twirling exercises on five types of equipment in Intro to Mixed Aerial Apparatus workshops. Students bring along a friend to jointly extinguish gravity's hold during one-hour sessions, which begin by schooling students in basic stretching and conditioning to prepare for introductory aerial techniques. Twirl and fly on up to three types of aerial circus gear, including trapeze, hanging silks, coiled Spanish webs, lyras, and ladders without the avian road rage of traditional flight. Students rehearse midair acrobatics and prove their ability to think while hanging upside down under the vaulted steel-beam ceilings of the Turners' massive gymnasium. By studying the art of circus with the American Turners, visitors keep up a legacy that began in 1849 when their
predecessors, the Louisville Turners, began their above-earth performances on Market Street in what would become the city's first gym.

PoleKittens Fitness offers fitness-focused females fun alternatives to conventional workout classes and methods. The 90-minute aerial silks workshop starts by warming up the muscles used for anti-gravity maneuvering, then embarks on a tutorial of basic climbs and aerial skills aboard a dangling expanse of fabric. In 1976, educator, musician, and kinesiologist Robin Wes opened The Little Gym based on his new take on physical education. His curriculum emphasized motivating children to achieve instead of pressuring them to win. As a result, The Little Gym became a noncompetitive, positive, nurturing environment where young ones could develop physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Since then, Little Gyms have sprouted up across the country. Enter Kevin and Page Helmick. Kevin and Page's passion for working with children stirred the duo to open their own Little Gym locations in Liberty Township and Mason. Parents of two young boys, Kevin and Page captain a talented staff of childcare professionals and instructors that is as passionate about childhood development as they are. The programs and classes they teach aim to help kids develop skills such as rhythm and coordination, and kids camps during winter, spring, and summer breaks prevent children from creating finger paintings that express the existential ennui they feel when school is out of session. Jeanie Moreland has owned and operated her own studio since 1976, and she's so dedicated to introducing people to the world of dance that she was even recognized by the North American Talent Association as the Teacher of the Year. Her classes are open to students aged 3 through adult, and they cover styles such classic styles as ballet, jazz, and tap. To keep things interesting, Jeanie also offers lessons in Hawaiian- and Tahitian-style dance as well as funk and acrobatics. As a former pageant director, Jeanie can even share her wealth of knowledge with girls who are interested in modeling and pageantry. Students can learn everything from audition prep and interview skills to runway turns and how to "smize" (smile with your eyes) and "winbow" (wink with your elbow). All classes help prep students for success, as graduates of Jeanie Moreland Dance Theatre have gone on to careers as Rockettes and dancers for the Chicago Bulls.
