With machines set up in rows to encourage competition, many ordinary gyms cater to men's bodies and psychology, right down to the urinals that were "accidentally" installed in the women's locker room. At Curves, you'll move around a circuit of hydraulic resistance machines that have been designed to work with women's bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage your machine maneuvering and your muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing your momentum, the hydraulic machines use your body weight and fitness level to create resistance that matches your abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.
Boxfit is a studio style Boxing and Fitness facility. We teach children, teens, men and women's boxing and fitness classes. We use boxing gloves, hand pads, and heavy bags. We also provide personal training and Boxer-cise classes.

Take Note Music School's expert instructors draw on years of professional performing experience and a passion for music education to impart young minds with note-hitting know-how and an appreciation for the art form. Aspiring instrumentalists (ages 4 to 5)
obtain musical enlightenment during each 10-week block program, focusing on the sights and sounds of music as well as its sugar-cookie smell. Toddler tunesmiths attend one 45-minute class per week and experiment with creative tools such as puppets and hula hoops and craft melodic masterpieces with a range of instruments including Orff glockenspiels, xylophones, and electric rainsticks. The Lotus Centre’s focus on yoga and meditation reflects founder Meranda Squires’ extensive study of holistic health in India. In 1983, Squires travelled to the birthplace of yoga and stayed for 17 years, immersing herself in the practice’s basic tenets. Now, she shares her wisdom during Soma and Hatha yoga classes, each with gentle flows that build strength, agility, and enough flexibility to pat yourself on the head after strapping yourself into a straitjacket. In addition to leading classes, teachers meet with students for one-on-one yoga-therapy sessions that focus on individual challenges, and administer Thai yoga massages that reduce muscle tension through guided stretching. The Lotus Centre also offers retreats that combine yoga with meditation to help participants find inner clarity and direction.
MAX Arts. Athletics. Wellness. is a kind of Athenian-style gymnasium that celebrates the intersection between physical and intellectual pursuits. The instructors teach arts courses in dance, music, and theatre and help to increase physical grace with jazz and ballet, train aspiring thespians through acting classes, or build musical acumen during one-on-one singing or instrument lessons.
On the other end of the spectrum, athletics programs include volleyball and basketball camps to hone sport-specific skills, such as spiking the ball or building new hoops out of peach baskets. Martial-arts instructors arm students with confidence and self-defence skills through youth karate classes, adult kenpo training, and women-only kick-boxing courses. Yogis and Pilates instructors also make use of the centre’s space to strengthen cores and limbs with stretches and asanas.
All classes take place within one of four top-of-the-line teaching centres, which house ample classrooms along with a fitness and conditioning centre. Inside, 66 feet of field turf stretch across the gym, providing better shock absorption as students work with kettlebells, battling ropes, sleds, and hurdles.
A passion for the culinary arts led Allan Hussey to the kitchens in the restaurant industry, where he honed his skills as a cook but gained weight due to unhealthy personal eating habits. To help him shed the pounds, Hussey sought the aid of personal trainers, and focused on making greater lifestyle changes than simply hitting the gym. 8 Limb Muay Thai club leads female exercisers through the art of Muay Thai–enhanced cardio in two-hour weekly classes. Certified personal trainer, amateur fighter, and Kru-certified Catherine MacLean leads ladies through cardio exercises focused on Muay Thai's punches and kicks using hands, feet, knees, elbows, and well-timed eyebrow furrows. Femme fatales alternate combat-adapted exercises with floor-bound Pilates sets aimed at toning core muscles. Darrell's Canon or Nikon boot camps are hands-on workshops where novices and advanced photogs alike probe DSLR and digital-camera settings, glean Photoshop savvy, and tackle flash techniques in order to aptly draw out any subjects' beautiful red eyes.
