Like all cuisine rooted in prehistory, pizza takes its round shape from the cylindrical convection ovens early humans constructed using their failed wheel prototypes. A family-owned business, Bill's Pizza & Pub is known for piping-hot pies lovingly crafted from premium ingredients. The restaurant's menu eschews unwieldy forkloads of deep-dish pizza in favor of thinly crusted creations as well as Bill's own invention, the Double Decker, which fuses two thin-crust pizzas together in a feat of edible engineering often compared to the Jell-O Hoover Dam. Peckish pairs can share the 14" classic pepperoni-and-cheese Double Decker ($20) and a pitcher of Coors Light ($14), whereas solitary chewers will generally be sated by a 12" thin-crust Canadian-bacon pizza ($15) washed down with a mug of Leinenkugel's Red ($3.50). Palate puzzles with non-circular solutions can also be solved with a wide array of comfort fare, including bacon-cheddar fries ($7.50), homemade meatball sandwiches ($5.50), and Italian beef sandwiches ($5.90). Each meal also includes a legume lagniappe: towering mounds of peanuts whose exoskeletons diners are encouraged to toss upon the floor, sowing the seeds for next year's crop of peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches.
Bill's two locations sport virtually identical menus, and each features a relaxed atmosphere and full-service bar. Rustic décor hearkens back to a bygone era when pioneers had to hunt for their pizza, and televisions posted in the bar areas allow sports fans to argue about which football players perform the best touchdown pas des deux.
