Being properly prepared saves students from flunking exams, pianists from plucking erroneous notes in public, and steaks from ending up as dog Frisbees. Chomp down on carefully crafted dishes with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $55 worth of diverse and classic American-style fare and drinks at Entourage in Schaumburg, close to Woodfield Mall.
Much like the Bat Signal summons Ted Williams back to life, Entourage summons diners with a giant, illuminated, cocktail-shaker-shaped side bay window. Once inside, Entourage offers an upscale dining environment filled with American-style cuisine. Starters include the light but powerful mesclun green salad, which hefts a stilton bleu and dried cherry vinaigrette onto spiced pecans and Fuji apples ($6.75), while the creamy lobster bisque hints at spicy notes ($6.25). Firecracker shrimp tosses crispy fried gulf shrimp into a kiddie pool of sweet chili sriracha sauce along with cilantro, lotus root chips, and grilled lemon ($12.95), and the macadamia-nut-crusted tilapia with banana coconut butter is paired with jasmine rice studded with dried fruit ($24.95). Entourage also offers several specialty cocktails and an extensive wine list.
Entourage's cozy, warm interior offers gently lit wood columns in addition to dark wood beams, earthy leather seating, and natural stone accents. Throughout the year, brunches and events occur naturally, and guest DJs are known to ramp up the dance floor on the first Friday of every month from 6 p.m. to close, rewarding humans with surgically attached tap shoes.
Reviews
Entourage was voted "Best new suburban restaurant" by Time Out Chicago in 2007 and is Zagat rated. OpenTable reviewers give the restaurant 4.5 stars, and TripAdvisors give it 3.5 stars:
- The dramatic two-story steel-and-mahogany entryway is the first hint you’re in for something big at this contemporary American hot spot. Suspicions are confirmed when you dive into a virtual mountain of hoisin–serrano chile calamari and a tender lavender-and-honey–glazed pork chop that’s four inches thick and perfectly cooked. – Time Out Chicago
- Totally enjoyed the food and ambiance. ** and would not hesitate to refer to a friend. – OpenTable reviewer who dined on 6/13/10
- Good quality restaurant. Good quality food. Great ribeye! – OpenTable reviewer who dined on 6/1/10
Groupon Says
Whyne?
Entourage has an extensive wine list that is ample study material for any wine connoiseur. But in a culture with so many beverage choices, many available in Gulp and Big Gulp size, why would anyone need to learn that much about wine? The truth is, many of those other beverage options have terrible, terrible secrets.
Water: This building block of all life is often frozen to serve as the building block of all Antarctic super-prisons.
Juice: Actually fruit blood.
Soda: A nutritionally barren carbonated drink containing lab-synthesized flavoring and is inefficiently sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup.
Yoo-Hoo: Anything that delicious is clearly from space.
