Highlights

Act now—only 75 bikes available!

Groupon cares about your health and well-being, which is why we want you to ride your bike more often. In honor of Bike to Work Week, we've teamed up with banking outfit ING DIRECT and Chicago's Active Transportation Alliance to offer you a huge discount on Marin bicycles and get more of you two-wheeling around town this summer. With our Groupon, get a comfy Marin Kentfield FS bicycle—either 17" or 19"—for just $275 (45% off the usual price of $495). The bike is bright orange and says "ING DIRECT" on it. Buy your Groupon here, then pick up your new bike at either the ING DIRECT Café (at 21 E. Chestnut St.) or its Bike to Work Week commuter station. Located at the Polonia Triangle (at N. Milwaukee, N. Ashland, and W. Division), the commuter station will be open every weekday during Bike to Work Week (June 15-19) from 6:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m.

Biking strengthens, tones, burns off calories, and relieves stress. It also reduces your carbon footprint by conserving precious fuels that are better spent building new bicycle factories (whose products will lead to even more fuel conservation, and so on). And biking costs you precisely $0 per gallon, saving you buckets of cash. Although today's Groupon for the Marin Kentfield FS is not $0, it's close enough—and pretty much a steal, given the quality of Marin bikes. The Kentfield FS is especially perfect for commuters, but will also serve you well on a rigorous workout sesh or a leisurely Sunday ride. A lightweight aluminum model, it only weighs 27.5 pounds, so even those who are flabby of bicep can lift it with minimal effort or strain. While its 700 x 35 tires translate into smoother rides, its powerful brakes will help you stop safely. Finally, its Shimano shifters and derailleurs will provide the control and flexibility you seek as you shift between its 21 gears.

In addition to stopping at the ING DIRECT Café to pick up or impulse-buy your new bike, you can also get a fresh cup of coffee and snacks, surf the Internet, open up a bank account, and sign up for an ATA membership. No laptop? ING DIRECT Café will have a computer station set up for you. The company boasts of making banking as simple as getting a cup of coffee, which it serves at its bright orange cafes (including its downtown Chicago location). And given that its slogan is "Save Your Money," its union with bicycling makes sense.

The Active Transportation Alliance, a member-based nonprofit advocacy organization, is your voice for better walking, biking, and transit options. (Check out its 2009 legislative agenda for additional details about ATA's policy initiatives.) For Bike to Work Week, the ATA will be running commuter stations and helping businesses compete to be the greenest and healthiest in Chicagoland through the Bike Commuter Challenge. Become a member to get your membership card, which will save you big at more than 100 Chicagoland businesses, including bike shops!
