Since its invention, laser tag has entertained as many children as laser hopscotch, laser jacks, and laser red rover have vaporized combined. Score some rounds of intense, beam-streaming competition with today's deal: for $8, you get three laser-tag games (an $18 value) at Lazer Kraze. This Groupon is good at your choice of one of the following Lazer Kraze locations: Erlanger or Deerfield Township/Maineville.

Surge through the misty haze, bumping bass lines, and fast flashing lights at Lazer Kraze, where Deerfield Township's three levels or Erlanger's multi-level arena of advanced flashlight tag await. Make it rain raygun ammo from an upper tier, earn a few power-ups, then storm your opponent’s base to deal them a game-changing strike. With as many as 40 taggers traversing either arena, you'll have no shortage of ducks on the darkened pond. After each game's dramatic conclusion, you and your fellow taggers can scope out the real-time scoreboard for accuracy rankings and more. Both the Deerfield Township and Erlanger locations host additional fun factory attractions (not included in this Groupon) such as arcade games, video-game tournaments, inflatable playgrounds, and laser-baked pizzas sliced generously by laser-wielding laser surgeons.

Instead of cartoon re-runs, treat the kids you baby-sit to a more active adventure for the imagination. Or get a small group together and make it a social excursion—laser tag is great for double dates, office outings, or parties.

Groupon Says

Trendwatching: Future Edition

Obviously, as we enter this new decade, lasers will have a growing importance in our daily lives, from placing red dots on the foreheads of our substitute teachers to creating an impenetrable defensive grid that keeps raccoons out of our chimneys. What other trends can we expect in the coming year?

Mini-seasons: Following on the heels of tweets, iPod nanos, and micro-loans, the coming year will be all about pocket-sized doses of familiar favorites. Expect stodgy, inconsistent seasons like autumn (when you have no idea how heavy a jacket to wear on any given day) to be replaced by tight, efficient mini-seasons spearheaded by the international meteorological community's hottest boutiques. Example usage: "The Minkus® holidays are always so busy, but my schedule should free up by Winterrette.®"

Pocketphones: Bulky carphones will be replaced by sleek new "pocketphones," so-named because they will be almost small enough to fit inside a human pocket or purse-bag. This freedom and mobility will inspire an entire pocketphone-based culture, prompting new colloquialisms like, "I'll pocketphone you later" and "Hey, what are today's showtimes for Dark Knight 2: Batman Begins? Let me check my pocketphone."

Whistles are back.

Real-Life Spoiler Alerts: The shared omniscience of instant-gratification blogging, Twittering, GPS-location beaconing, and newly affordable skywriting will create a culture of immediately recorded history, a source of narrative entertainment on par with television drama or serialized novels. As such, friends and family members will increasingly be berated for talking about their day in the presence of people who were hoping to read about it later.
