A staff helmed by a four-time jujitsu world champion teaches basic defensive and offensive moves of MMA cage fighting
The Institute of Martial Arts
The Institute of Martial Arts enlightens children and adults in the skills and discipline of technique-driven self-defense within a well-equipped 7,000-square-foot studio—a hefty upgrade from the garage that served as its birthplace. Led by four-time jujitsu world champion Caio Terra—who pilots informative seminars on his prize-winning skills across the globe—the staff of black-belt instructors conducts workshops for all age groups in a range of grappling, kickboxing, and amalgamated disciplines. They teach such techniques as Brazilian jujitsu, muay thai kickboxing, and krav maga to boost stamina, overall fitness, and hand-to-hand, or, heaven forbid, hand-to-extraterrestrial-tentacle, combat abilities.
The Institute of Martial Arts also sponsors its own MMA team with fighters including MMA stars Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz, Jake Shields, and Gilbert Melendez.
