Like cauldrons or old feelings for a high-school car, martinis are meant to be stirred up now and then. Get a feel for bartending basics with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $198 for a two-week, 40-hour Ultimate Bartending course (a $495 value)
- $49 for a four-hour cocktail workshop (a $99 value)
Novice barkeeps learn to make exotic cocktails such as Hemingway’s Papa Doble, or they complete a 40-hour bartending curriculum of more than 200 drinks, wine expertise, and other essential skills during classes held behind a real nightclub bar. The Ultimate Bartending course includes unlimited future refresher classes.
Technicolor liqueurs stream from bottles and shakers as 786-Bartend infuses the brains of students with 80-proof knowledge. Workshops for intro and advanced mixology—developed by founder Isaac Ergas—begin with international history lessons on the origin and evolution of the modern cocktail. Then barkeeps expound on the spirited synergies of high-quality liquors and common drink ingredients and share veteran bar-backing tips, such as how to open drink umbrellas in a windstorm. Prospective bartenders can opt to complete the 40-hour bartending course, which provides in-depth instruction on drink preparation and presentation, job-interview etiquette, and resumé construction. Taught onsite in an actual nightclub, 786-Bartend’s courses let students serve drinks to real customers who, like regular bar patrons, ignore last call and try to open tabs with library cards.

“The class is a lot of fun and Isaac is awesome. Be warned though if you take the 1-week version of the course: the final exam is not that easy to pass unless you have done all your homework and spent 1-2 hours memorizing your drinks every evening. If you can't do that, it might be a better formula for you to take the weekends class or the two-week class. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it to others.”
