Questions and Answers

I am buying the 2 hours for my son 14 years old , is there age restriction? Does he get to fly the air crat on air? what is the exact cost of the fule for 2 hours cessions?

Yodit G. asked 9 months, 11 days, 11 hours, and 13 minutes ago - 1 answer

The age limits are 15 to take written exam, 16 to solo and 17 to get license. There is NO age limit to recieve instruction. He will get 2 1-hour flights (scheduled for 2 hours to include pre-flight inspection of the aircraft.) The cost for fuel should be between $30 and $50 per flight hour. If they do a lot of takeoff/landings the aircraft will burn more fuel. The average is 8 gallons per hour and right now the fuel is $5.02 per gallon

Good afternoon, so please clarify, the fuel costs are not $18/ per month as the Groupon states. The actual costs are per Gallon PLUS the $18/ per month? If so this should be clarified on the offer itself. Also, does the 10 hour or 50 hour option include the cost of instruction? Thank you.

Jonathan B. asked 9 months, 11 days, 7 hours, and 51 minutes ago - 1 answer

JD D.

Yes, that is a misprint that I tried to clarify but the Groupon writers misunderstood. The fuel club is $18 per month and then you buy fuel at as close to cost as possible. No, the 10-hour deal and 50-hour deals are for aircraft only. The 172 rents for $89 per hour w/o fuel and the 182 (which is the 10-hour deal although I will rework it for students in the 172) is $115 dry. 50 hours in the 172 would normally cost $4450 so if I included instruction I'd be broke on the first deal we sold. CFI time is $47.50

Is American citizenship required for this deal?

Pranayjit A. asked 9 months, 12 days, 9 hours, and 52 minutes ago - 2 answers

JD D.

No BUT you have to go through the TSA Alien Flight student program before you can start training. We can do a 1-hour introductory flight for non-citizens only until they get approved through TSA. The web site with all of the information is www.flightschoolcandidates.gov. The approval takes about 3 weeks. If you buy this deal now you can start once you are approved. If you decide to do this please email JD at contact@lrn2fly.com so I can help you through the process. Oh, and they charge about $300 just so you know. We have tarined several people who have gotten this clearence so we are very familair with the process and more than happy to train you once you are approved.

JD D. answered 9 months, 12 days, 2 hours, and 36 minutes ago

JD D.

Also, I need to know the name of the student. When you apply to TSA they will contact me to see if I know the person applying. If I don't know the students name the process will stall. So if you do this please email us asap.

Are we actually flying or just flight simulation?

This Groupon is for actual flight in a plane.

Marty S. answered 9 months, 12 days, 8 hours, and 24 minutes ago

Sorry, I had the wrong date this deal was running. It's for actual flight time with a Certified Flight Instructor. It's the first 2 lessons any pilot would start with.

JD D. answered 9 months, 12 days, 2 hours, and 28 minutes ago

Puzzles by the fuel cost for the Cessna 182 listed on a per monthly basis. Is this a dry or wet rate? Also, what time requirements apply to the 10 hour limit? Example, depart Friday PM, fly 3 hours away. RON for two nights and fly back Sunday PM for three hours. Any additional charges?

William W. asked 9 months, 12 days, 3 hours, and 1 minute ago - 1 answer

JD D.

The price for fuel is the airports fuel club. Basically you pay $18 per month and then get fuel at 0$0.05 to $0.10 above what it cost them (Currently $5.02 per gallon). If you plan on continuing to fly with us then no additional time would be taken for a trip like that. If you were buying just 10-hours and then moving on the 3 hour minimum per day would apply as it does at most schools. We have a club where pilots pay a flat monthly fee and then $0 per hour so we don't have minimum flights or overnight trips but for hourly renters those still have to apply. We have to be fair to our current pilots as well as offer you a good deal. PS if you have 182 time a 1-hour check out is standard. For no 182 time the insurance company can require up to 10. Chief Flight Instructor makes the call as to when someone can go on their own with no 182 time.
