Until scuba gear was invented, mankind's only hope for summer fun involved competitive sunburning and watching flowers die. Make the outdoors great with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $125 for an open-water PADI certification course (a $275 value)
- $87 for a confined-water scuba-diving course (a $175 value)
The open-water course includes four open-water dives at the calm waters at Chatfield or Aurora Reservoir. At the end of the hands-on instruction, students receive their PADI certification, allowing them free rein over all oceans and seas.
The confined-water course kicks off with an in-class segment on the basics of safe diving, taught by a certified instructor. Within 90 minutes, students dive into the pool to train for their open-water excursion. Courses are semiprivate and include no more than six students.
This Groupon does not include all the required gear. Students are responsible for the student kit ($85 to own; includes manual, dive tables, and a log book) as well as BCDs, wetsuits, masks, and fins. Customers can rent a package that includes the wetsuit, BCD, dive computer, tank, and regulator for $70.
Abyss Scuba's crew of dive masters and instructors has enough combined experience to papier mâché together a life-size scuba diver out of all their certifications. Their courses range from introductory discovery dives to professional rescue-diver instruction. A wide range of specialty courses prepares divers for adverse conditions, deep diving, the use of nitrox, and chance encounters with James Cameron’s personal submarine. Not content to let their students test their skills in their bathtubs at home, the divers at Abyss lead annual excursions to diving spots around the world.
