Over centuries, modern firearms gradually replaced archaic weapons, such as the rapier and the sternly worded pamphlet. Take aim with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

During eight hours of classroom training (a $60 value), state- and NRA-certified instructor Bob Plyler teaches either North Carolina or South Carolina’s minimum requirements that qualify students to apply for a concealed-carry-handgun permit. In addition to passing a written examination based on the class content, students must also qualify on the range, where they receive a .22 handgun rental with ammo (a $20 value; students may also bring their own gun), range fees (a $15 value), and eye and ear protection (a $10 value). Upon successful completion of both the classroom and range components, students may apply for a CCH permit—any application costs beyond the class training are not included with this deal. Students also get one hour of private follow-up training (a $50 value), scheduled after the conclusion of the CCH class. Classes are limited to 25, and may be added based on demand. Groupon buyers also qualify for 20% off a course package (usually a $250 value) at Acumen Arms Tactical Academy.

Acumen Arms

Bob Plyler holds the distinction of the first hunter to earn the NRA's Triple Distinguished Expert award, a commendation recognizing proficiency in pistol, rifle, and shotgun shooting. At Acumen Arms, Bob combines this award-winning expertise with an instructional certification from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and his experience as a Vietnam veteran. This echoing expanse of knowledge comes in handy when he teaches classes that range from basic marksmanship to concealed-carry qualification. Bob takes an especial interest in tactical training, operating a partner business called Acumen Arms Tactical Academy where he and his fellow instructors teach skills such as shooting with your nondominant hand while patting your head at the same time. As an avid outdoorsman, he also tailors services for hunters, including sport shooting, clinics in turkey and whitetail-deer hunting, and guided hunts on controlled preserves for deer and game birds using trained dogs.

The Groupon Guide to: Tricking Your Kids into Eating Vegetables

Kids don't want to eat vegetables because vegetables aren't fun. Make legumes laughably fun with these tips for preparing vegetables:

  • Put black beans on circular slices of potato to give your kids healthier "chocolate-chip cookies."

  • Cut corn off the cob and offer their picky palates some "rotten goblin teeth."

  • Mash yams and your young ones will be thrilled to eat "a very sick man's innards."

  • An avocado kind of looks like a hand grenade.

  • Remove the strings from celery. Kids will voluntarily eat celery if it's not strung like some kind of ridiculous violin.

Mom, can I have seconds of goblin teeth?
