In a Nutshell

Beginner and experienced rafters navigate Class III and IV rapids in 14 ft., self-bailing rafts

The Fine Print

In the Victorian era, extreme sports were limited to teatime without doilies, writing witty satires about earnestness, and riding a penny-farthing down a mild incline. Shock such staid sensibilities with this Groupon.

Choose from Four Options

  • $25 for a half-day Classic Middle Adventure trip for one (up to a $53 value)
  • $50 for a full-day Full River Adventure trip for one (up to a $103 value)
  • $50 for a half-day Classic Middle Adventure trip for one with a photo CD (up to a $103 value)
  • $75 for a full-day Full River Adventure trip for one with a photo CD (up to a $153 value)

Whitewater-rafting trips for beginner and experienced rafters alike explore the Class III and IV rapids of the Ocoee River from the comfort of a self-bailing raft. The half-day trip lasts 3.5 hours, with 2 full hours of on-the-water time. The full-day, full-river Ocoee trip explores about 10 miles in a total of 6 hours, including 4.5 hours of rafting time and a deli-buffet lunch. Photo CDs (a $50 value) give rafters lifelong memories to cherish and share online as proof that they're not allergic to water. At the end of both trips, rafters are welcome to make use of onsite changing rooms and hot showers. Adventures Unlimited recommends that rafters dress for the weather and bring a change of clothes. Wetsuits are available for rental. Half-river trips reopen for the season on March 16, 2013, and full-river trips begin on May 11, 2013.

Adventures Unlimited

Foaming white rapids rush down the Ocoee River as birds chatter from within the leaves of towering trees. For nearly two decades, this has been the home of Adventures Unlimited, an environmentally sustainable full-service resort rolling with 30 acres of campgrounds, cabins, and whitewater-rafting facilities. Landscaping and gardens highlight native plants and animals, vehicles run on biodiesel fuel, and any construction efforts use sustainable materials or rocks that everyone was always tripping over anyway. The family-operated adventure company launches groups on whitewater-rafting trips through the tumultuous currents of the local Ocoee and Hiawassee Rivers or further afield in Costa Rica. To facilitate dry-land exploration and provide an energy outlet for serial finger painters, they also recently opened an outdoor wooded paintball field supplied by a full rental shop.

The Groupon Guide to: Email Viruses

One of the great risks of traveling the computer highway is contracting the computer virus. If you receive an email with a suspicious link, read this now:

  • Click on the link. If it takes you to a site that boasts Miracle Weight Loss Chowder or Grow Hair Everywhere Even Inside and Never Wonder Why, this is probably not a virus, just a helpful suggestion from a concerned friend.

  • If it is a virus, email the person who sent it to you. Ask if they meant to spam you. Chances are they were actually trying to get rid of a virus by sending it to trash@garbagemail.net and just typed your name by accident.

  • Turn on your computer's spam-blocking filter. This will automatically get rid of any email that isn't from a blood relative, parole officer, or shoe website with wonderful sale prices.

  • Get offline for a while. The best way to escape from a computer virus is to unplug, disconnect, and spend a few weeks shouting your feelings at neighbors instead of pouring them into an uncaring, soulless social network.

Where do my feelings go when I send them to trash@garbagemail.net? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
