Choose Between Two Options

  • $69 for a three-hour sailing tour and wine tasting (a $138 value)

During the tour, captains take groups of up to six passengers on a three-hour journey across the San Francisco Bay. The vessel floats by Angel Island and along the waterfront toward the Golden Gate Bridge. After this scenic voyage, groups head to The Winery SF on Treasure Island to sample various potables from the award-winning winery; alcohol cannot be consumed onboard the catamaran. Cruises depart at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday–Sunday.

  • $195 for a two-day introduction to sailing class (a $390 value)

The two-day introductory course teaches basic keelboat sailing over a total of 14 hours. Classes of four or fewer learn the mechanics of the ship and get hands-on practice guiding the vessel through the light and moderate winds of the bay. Instructors also cover US Coast Guard and American Sailing Association recommendations.

Afterguard Sailing Academy

A morning photo cruise powered by gentle sunlight and mellow breezes. A spirited afternoon jaunt toward the Golden Gate Bridge. A late-spring sunset trip over waters reflecting the city's skyline and the warm hues of the horizon. No matter the time of day, the waving sails of Afterguard Sailing Academy's vessels ferry passengers on adventures around the sun-kissed waters and iconic landmarks of San Francisco Bay.

Thanks to the academy's team of seasoned captains, tours are only one way to experience sailing's thrills. Their instructors also teach comprehensive American Sailing Association certification courses, which cover how to hoist the sails and steer a sailboat across all types of noncarbonated waters. As students progress, instructors teach more advanced lessons, such as bay basics and ocean sailing. Aside from these lessons, the captains also run a nonprofit sailing academy for youth.

The Groupon Guide to: Famous Movie Lines

It's important to take a few moments once in a while to thank Hollywood for all it's done for us. If you want to show your gratitude, simply recite one of the following famous movie quotes:

  • "Frankenstein, my dear, I don't really care" – Red "Fox" Butler, Dragged in the Wind (1942)
  • "Shut up, Mr. De Mille. I'm ready for my close up." – Ingrid Swansong, Swandog de Millionaire (1951)
  • "What's that big grey thing in the water? (gulp) It's…it's…J-J-J-Jaws!" – Jerry Lewis, For Whom the Jaws Jaw (1973)
  • "Make Seven, Up Yours." – Smith Brad, 7e7en (1995)
  • "One does not simply walk into Mordor. One could fly on an eagle to get there probably, but it would be cooler to do that on the way out." – Sean Beans, Ring Lords One: The Fellowship of the Ring Lords (2001)
  • "A million dollars isn’t cool. You know what is cool? Me. (Saxophone solo)" – Justin Tibblesmith, The Online Network (2010)

Based on the true saxophone story.
