During 3.5-hour tours, guides lead Jeep Wrangler caravans along Stampede Road, a bumpy mining trail featured in the motion picture Into the Wild, while they narrate the history of the area and point out sights just outside of Denali National Park's backcountry. While navigating the roads, patrons may spot wild caribou, moose, bears, and Mount McKinley on a clear day. Each four-wheel-drive Jeep holds four explorers, and guests 25 years and older possessing a valid driver's license can take turns steering. Tours depart daily at 11:15 a.m.; see the tour page for complete details.

Alaska Travel Adventures

Southern hospitality dictates that guests be taken into the home, fed, and kept cozy for the night. But up north, the Alaska Travel Adventures team warmly welcomes visitors by urging them to veer far from their front door. They help guests explore the landscape by designing whitewater-rafting adventures, kayaking tours, nature-trail walks, or panning for gold and sharing bits of history. For lunch, riverside campfires grill fillets of wild salmon and inspire stories from the Klondike gold rush. To complete the day, Alaska Travel Adventures keeps a fleet of 2012-model RVs for guests to sleep in so they don't have to set up tents or convince a bear to share its cave.

The Groupon Guide to: Using a Map

In this modern age of technology reliance, most people have completely forgotten how to use a good old-fashioned paper map. Here’s a quick refresher:

Find a place that sells maps. Maps are probably sold at like a map store? Look it up on your phone.

Buy a map at the place that sells the maps. Make sure you buy a good map. Use your phone to see who makes the best maps.

Unfold the map. This is the worst part. Put your phone in your pocket or your mouth for a minute while you use both hands to open up the stupid map.

Look at the map. This is the other worst part. You can only look at the map. It doesn’t do anything when you touch it or ask it to play the songs. It just sits there.

Go to the place on the map. Once you get there, use your phone to reflect sunlight onto the map so it burns. It burns away. It goes away. It doesn’t come back. The fire makes it nothing. Take a picture of the nothingness with your phone.

What is the most flammable kind of map? Find out in today's Groupon Guide.
