The 11th annual Houston-based Carnaval celebration runs Friday, February 22, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Stereo Live. Sprawled across 30,000 square feet dressed up in Carnaval decor, the party boasts five DJs spinning Brazilian and Caribbean tunes, a live Brazilian drumming band and percussionist, capoeira and samba dancers, stilt walkers, and a big screen projecting the Rio de Janeiro carnival. After checking out the Queen of Carnaval do Brazil Contest and Brazilian Bikini fashion show, partygoers can refuel with authentic Brazilian food available for purchase, such as steak churrasco, a Brazilian-style kebab. Meanwhile, seven bars pour libations such as Brazilian caipirinhas. Revelers aged 18 and older can come in costume or casual attire and receive free beads and masks.
