The Issue: High Euthanasia Rate for Dogs in Shelters
When a dog is brought into a shelter, it faces long odds against ever making it out. Sixty percent of all breeds in shelters are euthanized each year, according to data from the ASPCA. It's usually a matter of controlling overcrowding. Due to their high intelligence and need for lots of exercise, border collies tend not to fare well in the shelter environment, lowering even further their chances of getting adopted.
The Campaign: Caring for Rescued Border Collies
All donations to this Grassroots campaign will be used by All Border Collie Rescue to care for rescued border collies and prepare them for adoption by a loving family. For every $400 raised, the organization can rehabilitate one dog, spaying or neutering the pup and implanting a microchip. Each animal will also receive any further medical attention it needs, such as treatment for heartworm or hip dysplasia.

About (Grassroots) All Border Collie Rescue
Since its founding five years ago, All Border Collie Rescue has managed to save hundreds of abused, unwanted, and abandoned dogs throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and other neighboring states. A team of volunteers gives each rescued border collie the medical attention and TLC it needs and deserves, including treatment for heartworm as well as spaying or neutering. Since the very first day, the goal has been to place each animal with a family who will love it and treat it humanely. In 2012 alone, the rescue took in 333 border collies—and found adopters for most of them.
