Choose from Three Options

  • $89 for a Lake Mead and Hoover Dam trail bike tour for one (a $179.99 value)
  • $154 for the above tour for two (a $359.98 value)
  • $269 for the above tour for four (a $719.96 value)

At 8 a.m., up to 50 riders outfitted with helmets, gloves, and hip packs embark upon the Lake Mead tour atop bikes equipped with storage racks and closed compartments. Over the next six hours, cyclists follow a guide along freshly paved paths that snake through the Mojave Desert and the Black Canyon Gorge. Tours break regularly for provided water, healthy snacks, and a lunch packed by the chefs at Capriotti's. Bighorn sheep often mill about the rocky crags that border a series of tunnels. Guides accompany groups through the first, then let them navigate the remaining tunnels themselves before popping out along the shores of Lake Mead. After exploring, riders board a shuttle back to Las Vegas around 2 p.m.

All Mountain Cyclery

The soaring peaks and red-rock lava flows of the River Mountains. The snaking gravel paths that form a ghostly memorial to a Hoover Dam railroad. The rippling waters of Lake Mead. At All Mountain Cyclery, these local sights headline daylong bike and kayak tours of the wilderness surrounding Boulder City. Located only a 30-minute drive from the famed Las Vegas strip and 10 minutes from Lake Mead, the cyclery rents out Specialized bikes and sells two-wheelers by big other big names, including KHS and Redline. With a fresh set of pedals beneath their feet, cyclists can confidently cruise down the manmade Bootleg Canyon single track. Gravity tows bikes down the steep path at full throttle, leaving riders free to focus on navigating the challenging terrain and throwing their sneakers at distracting birds.

The Groupon Guide to: Buying a Car

Buying a car is an intimidating experience. The man looks at you. He wants to sell you the car for more than it is worth. Beat the man. Beat the man until he cries with these tips:

• Always drive the car. This will let you make sure that it is free of the five most deadly species on earth and that it has a floor and the dealer isn’t Flintstone-ing you (a technique wherein the dealer sells you a car with no floor named after Flint Stone, an early dishonest car salesman).

• Immediately list everything you hate about the car. It has a nick here, a dent there. It is the same color as your rival’s eyes. You looked at them in a field. You were the last man to look at those eyes. Your rival sold you a lemon. He is gone.

• When the dealer says the price, scream. Oh, scream until your nose bleeds and all of creation fears your machinations. Oh, scream your voice raw, honey. Good heavens!

• Ride away on your bicycle. This was good practice for when you really decide to buy a car.

Be sure to scream as fiercely as a newborn babe or warrior brave. Scream with all your grit, sweet honey.

  • We had a lot of fun, hit the teeter-totter and lot's of nice curving up/down trails. Jeff, our guide, was really patient and good.
