During basic pedicures, Dawn massages and exfoliates feet before trimming cuticles and polishing nails. Shellac manicures employ a polish that dries instantly and can resist chips and smudges for up to two weeks.

Inside Alter Ego, a host of hair, nail, skin, and airbrush-tanning experts await to help customers discover a whole new side of themselves. Dawn Johnston’s specialty is nails, which she can enhance with tips made of fiberglass, silk, acrylic, or gel. Natural nails can also adopt a new outlook under Dawn’s care. Traditional mani-pedis begin with finger and toe massages and foot soaks in gleaming white footbaths, and Dawn occasionally dips extremities in warm paraffin or hot mitts during games of hide-and-seek. Once skin has been softened and nails have been shaped, she tops each pointer with traditional polish or chip-free gel lacquer, which can resist smudging for up to two weeks with proper care.
