The beginner’s photo walk gives students the chance to explore the features on their DSLR or point-and-shoot cameras, starting with a one-hour tutorial from a professional photographer. Students will test out the concepts they’ve learned, such as aperture settings and shutter speed, while snapping photos during a one-hour walk through Olympic Cauldron or Sunset Beach.
The Long Exposure Waterscapes 101 course delves further into using aperture and shutter speed to capture photos in low light while explaining how to identify subjects that will work using long exposure techniques. The instructor recommends that students bring a DSLR camera with a tripod and a 10-stop ND filter, or denser neutral-density filter, though there may be a limited number of filters on hand to borrow.
Students in both courses will have access to a password-protected gallery of the images they take during the course.
