Aquarium of the Bay

Three-hundred feet of clear acrylic tunnels hold the 700,000 gallons of water that sustains nearly 20,000 marine animals inside Aquarium of the Bay. The 50,000 square foot facility houses three main exhibit areas including Under the Bay, where Moon Jellies float amidst ambient lighting inside a 725-gallon cylinder tank. They share the exhibit with two tunnel tanks full of giant Pacific octopuses, spiny dogfish, swirling schools of anchovies, and bright-orange Garibaldi, the California State Marine Fish. Visitors eager to put their other senses to work can head over to the aquarium's touch pools, where their fingertips can graze juvenile bay rats, leopard sharks, and sea stars.

Though not included in this Groupon and membership, guided tours escort guests through all of the aquarium's highlights, while daily programs enrich visits with interactive presentations in the Bay Lab—the aquarium's land animal area—including sevengill shark feeding shows. Over in the Bay Theater, 3D films and award-winning documentaries examine subjects such as shark species and marine conservation, while magician Timothy Noonan's 75-minute interactive show blends family-friendly comedy with illusions such as pulling a whale out of a hat.

The Groupon Guide to: Making a Goofy Face

If we each spend just 15 minutes a day making a goofy face in public, this big old bowl of soup we call "Earth" won't seem quite as tasteless. Here are some tips on how to goof up your face:

  • To make a goofy smile, simply angle the corners of your lips down instead of up.

  • Stick your open hands behind your head so you look like you're either a moose or a person whose head is growing 10 fleshy nubs.

  • Turn around before making a face. That way the person you're with won't have to watch you try to fold your eyelids in half several times, if that's how you choose to make your goofy face.

  • Puff up your cheeks. You can do this the traditional way—with your breath—or the delicious way—with a pound of meatloaf.

  • For the "inverse," you'll want to shave off your head hair and glue the clippings onto your face. You'll also probably want to start walking backward and draw two eyes, a nose, and a mouth on the hairless portion of your head with lipstick. Have a friend do it too and then your inverse faces can kiss each other. That's wild!

Would the world be a better place if everyone walked around with a mouthful of meatloaf?
