At Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center, veteran ophthalmologist and plastic surgeon Emilio M. Justo, M.D. performs laser eyelid-lift surgery that tightens eyelids and improves vision. Plagued from the start by gravity and the weight of eyelashes' lead core, eyelids slowly droop and sag over time and require an occasional pick-me-up to restore their initial vibrancy. After an initial consultation with Dr. Justo, patients schedule a preoperative counseling visit, in which they go over photos of the treatment area with a registered nurse. On the third visit, patients undergo the quick laser procedure; throughout the 20-minute treatment, laser light flits over locally anesthetized eyelids to remove excess skin. During a follow-up visit eight to nine days later, a registered nurse removes sutures. Doffed of their basset-houndness, eyes appear sprightlier and may be able to make out the graffiti spray-painted on the underside of clouds.

The treatment does cause a small amount of bruising and swelling, though patients can resume their normal routine the following day and discuss post-op progress with a registered nurse during the included follow-up appointment one week after the procedure.
