Da Vinci – The Genius
The very definition of a Renaissance man, Leonardo da Vinci mastered a seemingly inexhaustible range of disciplines within his lifetime. Da Vinci – The Genius honors the legend's self-taught brilliance with exhibits that explore his legacies in art, science, music, and philosophy. Visitors stroll through a mechanical forest of inventions based on drawings in da Vinci's codices and constructed by modern-day Italian artisans, and marvel at early concept designs for the glider, airplane, crane, submarine, mechanical drum, and helicopter. The Secrets of Mona Lisa display highlights the discoveries of French engineer Pascal Cotte during his sojourn with the lady at the Louvre. Meanwhile, facsimiles of da Vinci's journals and codices are presented in paper and digitized forms throughout, many encoded in the artist's mysterious writing technique.
Da Vinci – The Genius was created by Grande Exhibitions, with the assistance of the Anthropos Foundation, Italy, and Pascal Cotte, France. It is sponsored locally by JP Morgan Chase, The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com and located in the Sybil B. Harrington Galleries.
Arizona Science Center
Arizona Science Center serves more than 500,000 guests annually, enticing them in with colorful multimedia displays and interactive exhibits. More than 95,000 square feet of learning space spreads across the multi-storied facility, giving adults and children alike room to expend their mental and physical energy on more than 300 hands-on permanent exhibits.
Arizona Science Center also holds an immersive film chamber that recreates the visual and aural experience of standing in the eye of a hurricane or the heart of a monsoon. And that's not the only body-swallowing multimedia experience. In a 280-seat IMAX theater, a five-story screen brings audiences face-to-face with wildlife, human invention, and natural phenomena blown up to larger-than-life sizes.
