after compleating this class are we leagle to carry a conceled weapon?

dex n. asked 7 months, 6 days, 9 hours, and 35 minutes ago - 1 answer

Doug L.

Dex, Under Arizona law, you do not need a permit to carry a concealed weapon. However, there are some benefits to actually having a Concealed Weapons permit. 1. When you purchase a firearm, you can simply present your permit in lieu of the instant background check. 2. You will have reciprocal carry privileges in 36 states with the Arizona CCW permit. 3. You will be able to carry in restaurants that permit concealed carry as an Arizona permit holder There are a few other benefits, but these are the big one and all are good reasons to have an Arizona CCW permit.

Is this a required course for ccw? I am a complete novice and want the course materials anyway but curious about the steps to obtain a ccw permit. Thanks...John

John A. asked 7 months, 6 days, 9 hours, and 34 minutes ago - 1 answer

Doug L.

Hi John, To obtain a Concealed Weapons permit in Arizona, you must be at least 21 years old, satisfy the firearms safety training requirement required by state law and submit an application, processing fee and fingerprint cards to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. They perform a criminal background check on each applicant. Assuming you have no serious criminal history, you will be issued a concealed weapons permit. Our course far exceeds the state requirement for training. We give you valuable information about how to avoid becoming a victim of violent crime and what steps you need to take to protect yourself and your family members. As part of the class, we also provide all the necessary forms and detailed instructions on how to correctly submit your application and receive your permit

I would like clarity around the age of obtaining a concealed weapons/CCW permit.

richard g. asked 7 months, 6 days, 9 hours, and 3 minutes ago - 1 answer

Doug L.

Richard, You must be 21 years of age to apply for an Arizona concealed weapons permit. The training is valid for five years, so someone that is only 19 or 20 might wish to take the course now and apply for the permit after they turn 21. There is no real age restriction on who can take the class. Many people take the course just for the information contained in the the course since it includes a lot of information on personal security strategies.

My CCW permit expired and I did not renew. What do I need to do to renew it? Do I just need to pay a fee (how much) and renew or do I need to take the class again? Thank you!

Alice F. asked 7 months, 5 days, 6 hours, and 59 minutes ago - 1 answer

Doug L.

Alice, You can renew your permit if it has not been expired for more than 60 days, you can download a renewal form from the DPS website at http://www.azdps.gov and pay a $43 fee to renew your permit. If it has been expired longer than 60 days, you would need to take the course again... Hope this helps... Doug

Hello, I'm not US citizen nor Green Card Holder.. I'm on working visa here, *legal* Arizona resident for 5 years. . Can I get CCW permit? Thank You

Victor F. asked 7 months, 3 days, 1 hour, and 25 minutes ago - 1 answer

Doug L.

Victor, Anyone can attend the course. In order to get a CCW permit, you must be here on a resident visa and have been living in Arizona for at least 90 days. I would need to know the type of visa you are here on to answer your question completely. I'd suggest sending us an email at reserve@armedpersonaldefense.com with the details of your question. Doug

In a previous response, you said, "Under Arizona law you are simply required to 'demonstrate competence' with a firearm. This can be accomplished by taking a course offered by either a DPS approved instructor or an NRA Certified instructor." Can I assume that your course "offers a DPS approved isntructor, or an NRA Certified instructor" and that there is no OTHER course to take after this one to apply for CCW Permit?

Damian K. asked 7 months, 3 days, 2 hours, and 58 minutes ago - 1 answer

I am interested in this class but I want to be clear. The class is a teaching class so we will not need weapons. I want to get my permit but I need training.

Joanie B. asked 7 months, 4 days, 9 hours, and 33 minutes ago - 1 answer

Doug L.

Hi Joanie, Let me amplify on the previous answer a bit. There lots of people that are looking for a CCW course for a lot of different reasons. Some want to learn more about the law. Others want to learn about firearm safety and safe gun handling. Some are experience shooters, others are brand new to firearms. We developed this course to provide all of the information that either a new gun owner or someone that wanted to learn more about the law and how to avoid becoming a victim of violent crime. This class is a broad survey of the information that we think every gun owner should know...from safety and security to legal, to basic information about selecting a firearm and accessories. We also have other training that we offer for all levels of shooters, from beginners to experts. We will be offering promotional rates on our other training to those who attend the CCW Course, from a 3 hour intro to handgun course to an 8 hour Defensive Handgun course. Overall, this would be a great place to start. If you are interested in one of our range based classes, we rent a variety of types of handguns at very reasonable rental rate that includes ammo. I hope this helps... Doug

Doug - for someone who has never used a firearm is this the right course to get started, or is there a different/better course to take? Safety and understanding the law seem to be covered in this course but not any training about handling a firearm.

craig b. asked 7 months, 4 days, 17 hours, and 35 minutes ago - 1 answer

Doug L.

Craig, This is a good first course for someone like you describe. We will provide you with training in firearms safety and all the basics that you would need to get started. We will also be offering discounted range sessions for sale at this course, so it would be a great opportunity to get a deal on that kind of course as well... Best regards, Doug
