I have a family (4) and would LOVE to take advantage of this offer, but leaving one family member behind seems rather…. cruel. Will they extend the discount to the family membership, perhaps with appropriate adjustments for a ~64% off family membership?
Diane one solution would be to purchase 2 memberships, each membership is valid for 1 person plus a guest. So if two people had a membership they could admit the other two members with them.

FYI, children under 14 are free, does this help you with your family of 4 question?
The membership is for two adults and all children in the household 18 and under.
Also, does the Evening Associated membership allow you to bring a guest?

This offer is valid only for the “Member” level membership. It has a very family friendly admission package admitting one person (the cardholder) plus a guest, in addition to all children in the household ages 18 and under. Guests must accompany the cardholder for admission.

When will this be active? I think we normally don’t get our groupons until the next business day, but we are planning to go to the museum tomorrow. Is there anyway to get it earlier?
For those of us looking to renew, does the evening associates membership begin immediately or does it only kick in when the renewal begins? (I am not currently an Evening Associate.) Also, I’m currently a student member. Would there be any complications considering I’d be changing levels? Would that change from “student” to “regular member” only happen at renewal?

What a great groupon! So I am currently a Member Plus – but would like to get this and tack it on to the end of the Member Plus and just be a Member at the time – would that work? How do we tell you to just tack it on at the end? Also, when would the Evening Associates start – when the new membership starts?

Can you bring a spouse to evening associate events? Online it looks like it is an extra $20 to do that?
Evening Associates events most often have a EA Member price and a Non-member price, so you will be able to bring guests to most of their events. FYI – Events are very reasonably priced.

If we buy two memberships, can the second one be added on to extend the first year? For example, 2 groupons for $80= 2 year membership to the AIC.
I want to buy a new membership for myself and one for my parents to extend their current membership but am worried both memberships will be put under my name….can I just purchase two and send you the details via email to sort it out? This is an awesome deal – thanks AI and Groupon. You rock!
We will be checking our records to identity current Art Institute members. If you do have an active membership we will extend your current expiration date by one year at the “Member” level.
Your Evening Associates benefits will begin immediately.

Only one Groupon can be redeemed per membership. Multiple Groupons cannot be purchased to make up a mulit-year membership.

What if I wanted to buy this as a Christmas gift for someone? Does the membership start today, or can the gift recipient activate it at the beginning of 2010?
For those with questions on how quickly they can start using the membership, if you purchase today, tomorrow around 5am CST you will be able to print your electronic Groupon. You can bring that into the museum as early as tomorrow and exchange it for a temporary membership card which you can use for all the same perks as the final card (including the discount at the restaurant).

If I understand correctly….. Whenever I print the coupon and bring it in to the museum that’s when my one year will start as long as I start before 8/3/2010? And it will last 1 Year ?

Regarding the Christmas gift, unfortunately this membership will be activated immediately and cannot be held until the holidays. But why not celebrate Christmas in July and give a gift now?
I just received the “click here to verify your email address” email message from Groupon and I receive a “no user exists with the activation code” message on a “the point” website. Does anyone know what this means? When I attempt to log-in to “the point” website it tells me that my email address is already taken by a user….
Membership is not transferable. Your name will appear on your membership card, but you may bring a guest with you.

Members and their guests are welcome to attend Member Martini Mondays. Tickets are $20 per person and reservations are required. The August event is already sold out. Keep an eye on the AIC website for announcements about this monthly event held on the Modern Wing’s outdoor sculpture terrace.
Guests are welcome to attend most Evening Associates events at the non-member price.
If you are joining as a new member, your membership will expire August, 2010.

I thought that I signed up properly but have not received an e-mail confirmation like I did a few weeks ago. Don’t want two memberships. Can someone from groupon confirm whether my sign up went through. I had to change my password.

One of my favorite things about Chicago is all the museums. As soon as I saw this one I jumped on the bandwagon. Is there any plans for any of the other museums planning on giving a discount on their memberships??? :)

Wow — people the gift membership answer has been given several, several times. You place the order, then email AIC at the email address given several, several times, with the gift recipient’s email postal address.

The Groupon should appear about 24 hours after you’ve made the purchase. I bought mine yesterday morning and now have it. So if you made a purchase today or make one tomorrow you will have to wait 24 hours to receive it.

Hi Jennifer,
The membership packet arrives to your billing address on your credit card in about 3-4 weeks. The instructions are on your Groupon, but if this is not the right address it should go to you, you can email the email address provided on the Groupon to change your address.
You will receive your membership card when you bring your Groupon to the front desk, so you do not have to wait for the membership packet to arrive to start enjoying art!!

I think I have a similar question to Jennifer. I read the groupon and it says that it expires Aug. 3. what does that mean? If I can’t get to the Art Institute before aug 3, will that be ok?

Who can we follow up with to get our packets. It is pretty unprofessional to charge one’s credit card and provide the product.
Have not received this, the groupon said the membership packets would be mailed (and I know several people who have received theirs). Please let me know who to call.
I took my printout to the AIC and was given a temporary membership card. I received my membership packet in the mail and have already picked up my bag from the Members Lounge. Love the bag, love the AIC and have already visited w/children several times.
The Members Lounge is a nice place to rest and grab a free beverage (coffee, water, tea).
