The Issue: Seniors with Limited Mobility
Many seniors living in care facilities lack the ability to do the things they used to enjoy. Due to limited mobility, they have fewer chances to participate in certain activities and experiences and can feel a sense of isolation as a result. Arts events that take place where seniors live, such as at retirement homes and assisted-living facilities, can improve their quality of life and make them feel less cut off from the world around them.
The Campaign: Funding a Classical Concert for Seniors
If this Grassroots campaign raises $200, then Arts Are For All Ages can fund a classical-music concert in which youth perform for 35 seniors. Each additional $200 raised will fund another performance for 35 seniors. Concerts take place at retirement homes, adult day-care centers, and assisted-living facilities across the region. Young pianists, violinists, and other musicians perform for approximately 45 minutes; afterward, audience members can interact with the musicians during a 15-minute discussion.

Arts Are For All Ages
Arts Are For All Ages' aim is to bring classical music to people with restricted mobility and to help young musicians find outlets for their art. More than 28 young musicians performed for six senior communities during the inaugural season in 2009. Now, young musicians bring a variety of musical instruments and give live classical concerts on a regular basis for elderly neighbors who otherwise could not attend arts events.
