$399 for a three-week musical-theater day camp with before-and-after camp-care, Monday–Friday, June 10–28 (an $825 value)
Children aged 6 and older attend classes in acting, music, and dance, as well as special workshops, developing the skills to put up their own performance at the end of the session. This year’s musical-theater camp focuses on the whimsical sci-fi musical Starmites. Both camps run Mondays–Fridays, and each day of camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with optional care service for one hour before and after each day’s activities.
Arts Garage’s playful name comes from its intimate space: a storefront on the lower level of a parking garage. Despite this humble platform, the staff of resident artists has transformed the theatre into a multidisciplinary haven for visual artists, actors, musicians, and arts educators. They assemble an annual season of plays, live music by solo artists and ensembles, and artistic events such as the Jazz Jubilee. In this same space, dedicated community artists lead year-round classes in voice, instrumental music, and scene study, as well as regular performing-arts camps for children that culminate in full performances, songs from hit musicals, and dramatic reenactments of that scene in Weekend at Bernie's II.
