  • $100 for a three-hour Introduction to Hot Shop class for one (a $200 value)

In the flame-working class, students learn to make soft glass beads or marbles and icicles of hard borosilicate. The hot-shop class covers the basic tools and techniques of glass blowing, and students can create several art pieces that they pick up the next day.

Asheville Glass Center

Combining experience in lampworking, glass blowing, and jewelry design, the three resident artists of Asheville Glass Center lead workshops and classes to share their passion for manipulating molten glass. The two- to three-hour intro courses teach neophytes to craft borosilicate marbles and soft glass beads, and more in-depth classes result in intricate implosion flowers and sand-cast solid forms. The center also offers open studio time for more experienced artists who wish to work alone, like the winningest three-legged racers.

The Groupon Guide to: The Fun Photograph

Everyone knows that after three normal group photos, the fourth is “the fun one.” In this photo, you can really cut loose and show some personality. Here are some Groupon-approved “fun one” moves:

Stick Two Fingers behind Guy’s Head: Shows you are playful and fun and haven’t forgotten that he had to have surgery to remove those fingers growing out of his head

Touch Your Own Eyeball: This one’s for all the tough guys. You don’t care about nothin’, you eye-touching cowboy.

Stick Out Your Tongue: There are no kings or doctors here. Go nuts!

Kick a Model Train Set: My uncle was actually mad about his life, not being silly, but the picture came out great.

Put a Little Cowboy Hat over Your Belly Button but Don’t Tell Anyone: This is just for you.

Is it OK to touch your own eyeball? Find out in today’s Groupon Guide.
