It says “four Yelpers each give Athletic Edge five stars.” However when I click on the yelp link, it looks like there are no reviews for this business. Am I not looking in the right place or is this a mistake?

Sam, are you sure about that. Usually Groupons have a limit of 1 or 2.
Lldyia, not sure if this is the case here, but it could be Yelp’s “automated filtering system.” Businesses have a love/hate relationship with that company. While it provides a great service to bring new people in, whether or not reviews appear on the page can seem rather arbitrary. More than half of perfectly legitimate reviews that my patients took much time and effort to write don’t even appear on my page. Coincidentally or not, reviews may disappear after a sales call from them.

So I see that it says up to $105 value. The 75 minute swedish massage is $105 and the 60-minute deep tissue is $105. Would these be the two options, basically?

The coupon is for either Swedish or Deep Tissue. Athletic Edge also offers Orthopedic Medical, Sports, Neuromuscular/Trigger Point Therapy, Kinesiology, Acupressure, Myofascial, Thai, Siddha, Lomi Lomi, Head/Neck/Shoulder, Aromatherapy and Pre-Natal Massage, but those options are not included in this Groupon offer.

Four reviews, 3 of them were first time reviewers. 3 of them posted within one day of one another. Hmm…
Alan, Great observation here… I am a little worried that the Yelpers (many of them) are no longer yelpers as their accounts have been closed. It looks like the Yelp Reviews are cooked up …
Definitely worried but I am going to support this local business with my $$$s and hope for the best.
Hi guys. We’re a new business to the area, and when we found out about Yelp, we started asking that all of our current customers put up Yelp reviews. The reviews that were posted were all legitimate. Some of our clients had to sign up for Yelp in order to use it, so it was legitimately their first review on the site. I’m not sure if any of them used the site again after the review or not. We also looked into doing some advertising with Yelp, and we decided not to advertise with them. I’m not sure why Yelp has removed the reviews, we had eight 5 star reviews up last week, all from our current customers. One of our customers tried to put up a review last night, and it was immediately taken down. She was in for an appointment on Thursday. I have tried to address this issue with Yelp, but they will not do anything about it.
We’re asking customers now to place their reviews on either google or yahoo, but I’m not sure how long it will be before reviews are posted there.

We are closer to San Jose. We talked to the groupon folks in SF first, and decided to go ahead and run the groupon with them.
I also spoke with a few of my clients that had reviews posted on Yelp, that were removed, and they’d be happy to provide anyone with a personal reference of services. If anybody is interested, please contact me, and I can provide you with their contact information.
