$17 for a Holiday Lights Show for Two (Up to $34 Value)

Monday–Wednesday nights from November 19 to January 2, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Atlanta Botanical Garden dons a glowing guise of more than one million energy-efficient LED lights for its second annual Garden Lights, Holiday Nights show. Throughout 30 acres, twinkling lights represent every color of the rainbow while creating themed attractions. The Starry Night Walk, for instance, brings to life Van Gogh’s iconic painting with dozens of swirling stars glimmering along a path by the camellias. The Great Lawn, meanwhile, hosts the Orchestral Orbs show, a topiary light show choreographed to music. New this year, the Glow Bar invites patrons to sip specialty cocktails in the Edible Garden amid an outdoor fireplace, live DJ music, and disco balls. Children younger than 3 are admitted for free, but they must obtain the free ticket at the admissions office.

Atlanta Botanical Garden

Hundreds of exotic and native plants spread across more than 30 acres of growing space at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Under the careful watch of the garden's horticulture team, these species provide a serene backdrop for garden visitors even as they educate them on the wonders of the natural world. The botanical discovery doesn't stop after the sun goes down. At night, visitors can explore the verdant pathways lit by millions of twinkling bulbs for the second annual Garden Lights, Holiday Nights, or decamp to the conservatory for a look at a mammoth collection of species orchids and the chirping poison dart frogs that keep them company. Amid its ever-changing visual display, the Atlanta Botanical Garden hosts frequent events such as concerts, holiday light shows, seasonal festivals, and an annual member-plant dance.

The Groupon Guide to: Topiary

The great outdoors are continually plagued by randomly shaped plants that branch out chaotically, as nature intended. Fortunately, you can apply the ancient art of topiary shaping to carve these shrubs and hedges into any of the following popular shapes:

  • Hunky Greek god
  • Single-headed elephant
  • Inescapable maze
  • Inescapable children's maze
  • Unlicensed Spider-Man
  • Toilet that is fully functional, in the sense that it is outdoors
  • Pile of leaves concealing pit of sharpened branches
  • Penguins galore
  • A family with no mouths that appreciates good topiary

What were the most popular topiary shapes of last year?
