Atomic Wings

The best way to eat a chicken wing is simply to pull apart the bones and dunk each half in ranch or blue-cheese dip, according to Atomic Wings founder Adam Lippin, in an interview with Fox Business. His expert knowledge goes back a few decades: Adam fell in love with wings in the early ‘80s while attending college in Upstate New York. He has maintained a healthy obsession with them ever since. When, upon graduating, he discovered that authentic buffalo wings weren’t available south of Buffalo, he vowed to right the culinary injustice. In 1989, he made good on his promise with the creation of Atomic Wings.

Today, the franchise operates from more than two dozen locations across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, with 10 eateries in Manhattan alone. The menu has expanded over the years to include chicken wraps, popcorn shrimp, and homemade mac ‘n cheese, but wings are still the restaurant’s mainstay. Diners can choose between bone-in or hand-battered boneless wings, all tossed in 1 of 14 sauces. Mild, medium, and hot are the most popular choices, but abusive, nuclear, and suicidal are available, too, for spicy-food lovers or those looking to power a rocket ship on chicken wings alone.
