Glass can be exquisite in its myriad forms, from the ornate windows of a Gothic cathedral to the crystalline webbing of a freshly vandalized windshield. Reflect on beauty with this Groupon.

$125 for a Half-Day Introductory Glass-Blowing Class ($250 Value)

In these three-student classes, a master glass blower teaches the intricate glasswork required to create paperweights during a hands-on session that lasts four to five hours. All materials are provided, and participants will be able to take home their finished pieces the next day. Students will mold, shape, and otherwise manipulate glass in this class. They will learn the foundations of proper glass blowing, which is the process of either breathing empty space into baubles or cleaning up curio cabinets with a leaf blower.

Aurora Borealis Glassworks

As glass master Dale Chihuly once said, "Glass is the most magic of all materials." Aurora Borealis Glassworks' resident artists and instructors gather molten glass, glowing and viscous at a blistering 2,200 degrees, onto the end of stainless-steel pipes, working quickly to transform amorphous blobs into colorful, solid shapes. Sharing the delicate art form with others, the team teaches techniques ranging from basic paperweight creation to more advanced blown shapes, working closely with students to create glass flowers, layered beads, and realistic replacement jaws for terrible boxers.

The Groupon Guide to: DVD Commentary Reveals

DVD commentaries can be fonts of behind-the-scenes trivia about all your favorite flicks. What are some secrets we learned from watching the special features?

  • Only half the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park were real dinosaurs.
  • Robert De Niro is a joy to work with, really gets to know everyone on set.
  • The reason there are so many Batman movies is because the mask lets producers cast interchangeable nonunion stuntmen that are cheap and easy to knock around.
  • Marty Scorsese is a joy to work with, takes time to get to know people.
  • The special effects in Toy Story were done with computers.
  • Claymation skeletons are a joy to work with, spend a lot of time sword fighting folks during breaks.
  • Star Wars is based on a true trilogy.

What behind-the-scenes movie secrets did we learn from director’s commentaries?
