Choose Between Two Options

 • $199 for a PADI Open Water Diver Certification Course, for ages 10 and older (a $409 value). The course incorporates classroom learning and home study into five confined water dives in the pool and four open-water excursions at local dive sites. The course culminates in a certification for dives of up to 60 feet. Rental equipment (BCD, regulator, tank, and weights), a logbook, a textbook, and pool fees are all included. Students also get to use a dive computer on the day of each dive.

 • $20 for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving Experience class (a $90 value). The class covers topics such as aquatic safety and underwater skills, from proper breathing to effective motion. Students get to see what it feels like to wear dive gear underwater, with all necessary rental equipment included.

For both classes, students should call ahead to reserve a time slot.

B & W Dive Co.

PADI instructor Bob Henry dove in the Caribbean, South America, and other tropical locales, but he always returned to his home base—B & W Dive Co., a scuba shop he founded in 1991. Since the ‘90s, his children Amber and Warren have taken the reins, carrying on their dad’s legacy by organizing dive trips and helping students earn their PADI certifications. The shop’s classes cover topics beyond open-water diving, though; they can introduce pupils to scuba basics, such as breathing underwater without trading in their ability to breathe on land, or focus on snorkeling and swimming. Visitors can also outfit themselves for solo underwater journeys with dependable aquatic gear, culled from makers such as Oceanic, Tusa, and Sealife.
