Excelling in the art of dance requires patience, swanlike grace, and a pair of feet strong enough to squeeze two lumps of coal until milk comes out. Massage coal teats into a dance bucket with today's Groupon: or $20, you get a four-class punch card for dance lessons at Bailando Latin Dance Company (a $40 value). Classes take place on West Vliet Street and West National Avenue.

Bailando Latin Dance Company teaches the seductive sways and dizzying dips of Latin dance to Milwaukee’s fleet-feeted denizens. Freeing folks from the prescriptive fetters of fad dances like the underwater macarena and the horseback hokey pokey, Bailando offers thorough, thrilling courses in salsa, bachata, and Argentine tango.

No partner is required for these hip-shaking sessions, and prospective movers and shakers who don't own professional dance kicks should bring a pair of clean, leather-soled shoes. Courses in Argentine tango and salsa and bachata are held every Monday and Tuesday night, with additional Sunday classes scheduled for experienced students approved by the instructor.

Reviews

Three Google Mappers give Bailando Latin Dance Company a perfect five-star average, and nearly 850 Facebookers are fans:

  • Classes are fun and the instructors are super friendly! Two instructors teach all the classes. The classes are held at two Milw. locations. – aneely331, Google Maps

Bailando Latin Dance Company

Versed in a wide variety of dance styles, Bailando Latin Dance Company's seasoned gyrators share their knowledge of footwork and technique with students between performances, encouraging pupils to socialize while honing their craft. Group and private lessons in the company's trio of studios imbue attendees with the improvised walks and figure-eight step of Argentine tango, salsa's turn patterns, and the sultry hip motions of bachata, a style widely practiced in the Dominican Republic. The company also lends its boogieing craft to outreach programs, public demonstrations, and charity events.
