Barefoot Yoga Studio

The staffers at Barefoot Yoga Studio have a few rules that keep their space serene, but one of them is so important, they made it a part of the studio’s name. As far back as yogis have existed, they’ve practiced without shoes, so students respectfully remove theirs and store them in the designated changing area. This small act, along with the rest of the studio’s suggested etiquette, helps create the calming environment practitioners need as they challenge themselves in 90-minute Power Flow and Vinyasa Flow classes. Cell phones are hushed before clients enter the studio, and the doors are locked 15 minutes after the start of each class to prevent latecomers and flash mobs from barging in and ruining students' concentration.

Power Flow classes take place in a room heated to 85 degrees in order to promote detoxification and make muscles more pliable. The series of poses—a mix of Ashtanga, hot-, and power-yoga moves—provides a cardiovascular workout while also building strength, stamina, and flexibility. Alternatively, Vinyasa Flow takes place in a room kept at a normal temperature; students transition through moves with slow, dance-like precision as they sync movement with breath. The staff also teaches a balancing restorative-yoga series, as well as prenatal yoga and yoga for kids.

The Groupon Guide to: Buying a Car

Buying a car is an intimidating experience. The man looks at you. He wants to sell you the car for more than it is worth. Beat the man. Beat the man until he cries with these tips:

  • Always drive the car. This will let you make sure that it is free of the five most deadly species on earth and that it has a floor and the dealer isn’t Flintstone-ing you (a technique wherein the dealer sells you a car with no floor named after Flint Stone, an early dishonest car salesman).

  • Immediately list everything you hate about the car. It has a nick here, a dent there. It is the same color as your rival’s eyes. You looked at them in a field. You were the last man to look at those eyes. Your rival sold you a lemon. He is gone.

  • When the dealer says the price, scream. Oh, scream until your nose bleeds and all of creation fears your machinations. Oh, scream your voice raw, honey. Good heavens!

  • Ride away on your bicycle. This was good practice for when you really decide to buy a car.

Be sure to scream as fiercely as a newborn babe or warrior brave. Scream with all your grit, sweet honey.
