Basement of the Dead
According to the story, it used to be a basement of the living. In fact, it was Aurora's largest laundry company in the late '20s. But, as the legend goes, a father and pun team by name of Imus and Al Kilya were flambeed by a boiler room explosion in 1964, and they didn't take it well. They de-lifed the denizens of the laundromat—an act that only increased their bloodlust. So now they wait for human bait to enter their Basement of the Dead.
Ranked as one of the area's top attractions for 7 years in a row by the aficionados of Hauntedhousechicago.com, the Basement of the Dead provides far more chills than the average hell house or laundromat. The journey through the Kilya's lair scares visitors with a sensory barrage of twisting tunnels and labyrinths, jarring "what was that?" sounds, mutilated creatures that aren't looking for hugs, and pulsing lights. However, the Basement's architects weren't content with their consistently praised cellar of abomination, and raised the stakes with their latest adjoining venture: Shattered 3D. After surviving the Basement, thrill seekers strap on 3D glasses and enter a different terrifying locale, where nightmarish psychedelic imagery and unfunny clowns await.
